Your student password

You must change your password when you login for the first time.

Passwords must be a minimum of 12 characters in length (including spaces).

  • Use a passphrase instead of a password
    • Passphrases are easier to remember and are more secure
    • Example passphrase: sun blue cat

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is required to login to your student account.

You will need a smart phone or tablet to setup MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Your data and our network are protected by MFA. It is important because even if someone knows your login details, MFA adds another layer of protection for access to your account.

You cannot access Melbourne Polytechnic systems until you setup MFA.

Multi-factor Authentication FAQs

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) requires you to provide more than one form of verification to gain access to your Melbourne Polytechnic account.

This provides an extra layer of protection by ensuring only you as the account owner can access your account.

Your login requires two factors of verification to successfully login:

  1. An email address and password, and
  2. A Microsoft Authenticator confirmation, or
  3. A passcode sent to your mobile phone or from a hard token (for those without a compatible smart phone)

If you don’t have the correct login credentials (email address and password) AND an appropriate multi factor (when prompted to enter it), you won’t be able to log in to your account.
