Melbourne Polytechnic has been named Large Training Provider of the Year at the Victorian Training Awards (VTA) gala event on Friday 30 August.

2024 marks the 70th year the VTA have honoured excellence in the state’s vocational education and training sector.

The prestigious Large Training Provider of the Year award recognises large training organisations that demonstrate excellence and high-level performance in all aspects of vocational education and training.

The event was held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and attended by hundreds of people, with representatives from educational institutions, employers and industry.

After being awarded the 2023 Inclusive Training Provider of the Year last year, this year Melbourne Polytechnic was a finalist again in this category, which was ultimately won by Catalyst Training.

Melbourne Polytechnic student Monty Knoll was a finalist in the Trainee of the Year Award category, which was won by Emma Holgate, a trainee with the Arts Centre Melbourne.

We would like to acknowledge our fellow nominees for the Large Training Provider Award, South West TAFE and BoxHill Institute of TAFE. We are fortunate to be part of a TAFE network that is collegiate, collaborative and lifts each other up. It’s a privilege to be involved in purpose driven work that adds value to the lives of individual students, the diverse communities and industries we serve.

TAFE not only offers opportunity for economic prosperity but also for social connectedness. We are cornerstones in communities, providing place based services in times of boom or bust and in times of great economic transition as we are experiencing today.

We acknowledge the many people who have made contributions to make this accolade possible, including our passionate educators and support staff – past and present. We also acknowledge the contributions of our Board, TAFE network and government stakeholders and industry partners for working with us to deliver outstanding training outcomes and build an inclusive, sustainable and thriving community inspired by learning.
