Melbourne Polytechnic is thrilled to have co-hosted an alumni event with Fuzhou Melbourne Polytechnic (FMP) to celebrate 20 years of educating students in China this April.
FMP is a Sino-foreign cooperative institute between Minjiang University and Melbourne Polytechnic, where Chinese students graduate with Australian qualifications.
The educational partnership has gone from strength to strength, producing more than 5,500 job-ready graduates over two decades.
Approximately 40 current students and 30 guests, including staff and alumni, celebrated at St George’s Restaurant at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Preston campus, with a live video link to our partner institution in Fuzhou.
The event celebrated 20 years of a successful and enduring partnership between both institutions, based on mutual respect and outstanding educational outcomes.
Alumni travelled from Hobart and Sydney to join the Melbourne celebrations, while the Fuzhou event was hosted by FMP President Meiying (Maggie) Zhuo, who was joined by hundreds of current students and staff.
Since 2002, there have been more than 5,000 graduates of FMP programs, dating back to when Melbourne Polytechnic was known as NMIT. Many graduates of this program have furthered their studies at Melbourne Polytechnic in Australia and at Australian universities, spring boarding into successful careers in Australia and back home in China.
“FMP is a shining example of what a great international education partnership looks like. It demonstrates the immense potential that can be unlocked through cross-cultural collaboration. We’re tremendously proud of our graduates, who are testament to the power of education to transcend borders and create brighter futures for all,” said Chief Executive of Melbourne Polytechnic, Frances Coppolillo.
