Amrit Kaur Samra

Amrit’s professional experience is a good mix of 9 years of practical industry experience in Australia and more than 8 years of higher education teaching experience in accounting.

Amrit specializes in accounting and auditing. Since 2013, she is a registered full member of the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA), Australia. Amrit holds a Master of Commerce degree in accounting and taxation from JNV University, India. 

She has also successfully completed an Accounting Continuing Education Program in Australian Corporation Law and Australian Taxation Law from The University of Sydney in 2005. Between 2006 and 2008 Amrit has achieved professional attainment in various accounting subjects including, Accounting Systems, Accounting Theory, Financial Management and Auditing and Assurance Services from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

From 2007 to 2016, Amrit worked in various senior-level accounting positions in Australia, with a track record of directing and managing various corporate accounting functions. In 2016, she took an opportunity of beginning her academic experience when she started teaching various accounting subjects in Higher Education both for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. This profession has provided her with a
prospect to passionately apply her learned university knowledge and gained practical accounting skills to the content delivery of lectures to the higher education students.

Amrit started working at Melbourne Polytechnic in 2020 as a Lecturer Accounting in Higher Education. In this position she teaches into the Bachelor of Accounting and the Masters of Professional Practice Accounting, within the Department of Business and Construction delivered in Australia and offshore. Collaborate with academic staff to support and maintain a high-quality student learning experience for domestic, international and offshore students. Her current research interests include biodiversity and natural capital accounting.
