Dr Mahsa Mirmomeni

Dr Mahsa Mirmomeni

Dr. Mahsa Mirmomeni is a Lecturer at Melbourne Polytechnic, specializing in Structural Engineering. With a robust academic background and extensive industry experience, Dr. Mirmomeni brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

 

She earned her PhD in Structural Engineering from Monash University in 2017, following an MSc in Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield in 2011. 

Mahsa's professional affiliations include memberships with Engineers Australia, the Australian Concrete Institute, and the Australian Steel Institute, among others. She has actively contributed to the field through various roles, including serving as a committee member for Engineers Australia's Women in Engineering Committee and participating in the International Association of Protective Structures. In industry, Mahsa has held positions ranging from Structural Engineer to Consultant, working on projects involving bridge design, power transmission structures, and commercial housing design.

In her current role, she is involved in lecturing and developing course materials for undergraduate courses, utilizing hands-on, lab-based, and project-based learning methods to engage her students with the course content.

As a member of Melbourne Polytechnic’s Green Concrete Research Group, Dr. Mirmomeni currently collaborates with industry partner Repurpose It© on development of green sustainable concrete.

Mahsa’s leadership is evident through her role in initiating the Engineers Australia Student Ambassador Program for Melbourne Polytechnic and founding the Melbourne Polytechnic Women in Engineering and Construction Group. Having previously served as a member of the Melbourne Polytechnic Gender Equality Working Group and the MP Learning Environments Advisory Group (LEAG), Dr. Mirmomeni is currently a member of the MP Higher Education Academic Board (HEAB), where she contributes to the organization's decision-making processes.Her involvement in academic supervision includes guiding undergraduate final-year projects and co-supervising PhD students.

Recognized for her excellence in science communication, Dr. Mirmomeni has been a finalist in several prestigious programs, including "Top 5 under 40" and Falling Walls Lab Australia. Her research has been widely published, with multiple peer-reviewed journal papers and conference contributions reflecting her expertise in structural engineering and materials under extreme conditions.

Dr. Mirmomeni continues to advance her field through both her research and her active engagement in professional and academic communities.
