Dr Van Nguyen

Dr. Van Nguyen is a lecturer in Hospitality Management at Melbourne Polytechnic with over 10 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

She has authored a wide range of industry reports and research articles in top-tier tourism and hospitality journals. Dr. Nguyen has also worked on numerous industry projects focusing on innovation, productivity and business resilience.

Dr. Nguyen earned her Doctor of Philosophy from Victoria University, Melbourne, in 2021. Her doctoral thesis, titled "Innovation and Productivity in Australian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises: A Sectoral Analysis," has contributed to the understanding of how innovation drives productivity in the SME sector, particularly within Australia. Prior to her PhD, she completed her Master of Business [by Research] with First Class Honours in 2016 at the same institution. Her master's research examined innovation in the Australian tourism sector.

Dr. Nguyen has published extensively in leading tourism, hospitality and event journals, including Tourism Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Tourism Management Perspectives, Event Management, Tourism Economics, and Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research. Her scholarly contributions also include numerous book chapters and industry reports, reflecting her deep understanding of the sector's dynamics. With over 550 citations, her research has made a significant impact in the field. Dr. Nguyen has also contributed to the tourism and hospitality industries through her involvement in research projects with major industry partners such as the Victoria Tourism Industry Council and Western Melbourne Tourism, applying her research insights to address practical challenges faced by the industry.

With over 10 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Dr. Nguyen is committed to delivering high-quality education that bridges theory and practice. At Melbourne Polytechnic, she teaches a diverse range of subjects, including Revenue Management, Hospitality/Marketing Research, Marketing Analytics, Emerging Trends, Food & Beverage Management, and Introduction to Hospitality Management. Her teaching philosophy centres on fostering critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills, ensuring that her students are well-prepared to meet the demands of the evolving tourism and hospitality industry.
