Gabriel Solorzano Torres is a senior executive with extensive experience leading large-scale infrastructure, sustainability, and strategic initiatives across the public and private sectors.

Since joining Melbourne Polytechnic in 2018, Gabriel has overseen a diverse and complex portfolio, driving key areas of infrastructure and development. His current responsibilities span commercial expansion, industry development, strategic partnerships, environmental sustainability, precinct development, digital infrastructure, ICT services, and facilities management—all aimed at elevating campus experiences and ensuring operational excellence. Recently, Gabriel has focused on identifying new avenues for commercial growth and building strategic partnerships to strengthen Melbourne Polytechnic’s position in the education and industry sectors.

Before joining Melbourne Polytechnic, Gabriel held senior leadership roles within the Victorian Department of Education and Training, where he managed TAFE and Higher Education infrastructure, asset management, and capital works and spearheaded asset management and environmental sustainability programs for government schools. His extensive experience overseeing large-scale projects and infrastructure initiatives has driven long-term value and sustainability across various high-impact projects. Additionally, Gabriel chairs Melbourne Polytechnic’s Business Resilience Committee, where he leads efforts to ensure institutional stability and business continuity.

With a strong legal background, Gabriel has practised commercial, financial, and corporate law, offering a unique combination of strategic, commercial, and legal expertise. Gabriel also holds an Executive Masters of Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG), further enhancing his public sector leadership, governance, and policy development expertise.
