Ian Bruce Munro has Board and governance experience totalling almost 20 years, in addition to extensive experience in economic development across a broad range of industry sectors, and in regulatory and land supply matters. Prior to his involvement with Melbourne Polytechnic, he served as a Board member of the Metropolitan Planning Authority/Growth Areas Authority and the Victorian Environment Assessment Council.
He held various executive roles in the then Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development including as Chief Executive Officer – Invest Assist, Deputy Secretary and Executive Director and has been a specialist consultant to the Victorian Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions and predecessor Departments for many years.
Mr Munro holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying), was a Licensed Surveyor and has undertaken training with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2007 and Centenary Medal in 2001.
Ian has been a Melbourne Polytechnic Board member since July 2016
