Liz is a hospitality professional and teacher with many years of experience. She teaches commercial cookery and patisserie students theory-based subjects such as food hygiene and food safety. Her hospitality student subjects include sustainability, food and beverage service, food and wine matching, wine tasting and coffee making. Elizabeth is passionate about sharing her vast practical experience with students in a relevant and engaging manner. She worked at several 5 star hotels and major events such as the Australian Open before commencing her teaching career. She has also taught overseas in China, Korea and Japan and this has given her a deeper understanding of the needs of international students.
Elizabeth is continuously coming up with new ways to present material. She supports her teaching with many different activities such as real-life case studies. She engages students by looking at current events that are relevant to the industry. Information is presented according to the needs and learning styles of the students. She really cares about her students and this comes across in her classroom. Sharing knowledge and watching students gain in confidence and competence on their learning journey has always been important to Elizabeth. She enjoys mentoring students and following their career paths, knowing that she has helped them achieve their goals.
Elizabeth has a Diploma of Teaching, a hospitality qualification and a further TAE qualification in training and assessment. In 2019 she received formal recognition for excellence in teaching at a reception at Government House, hosted by the Governor of Victoria.
