Maurizio has been involved in photography for over thirty years and works as a freelance photographer and exhibiting artist.
Working mostly in small series, Maurizio's images are often based on the objects, places and people that make up our daily life. He finds particular inspiration in the vernacular and also collaborates in documentary projects with the MAPgroup, a socially-concerned photographers’ co-operative. Maurizio uses his own industry experience when teaching his Melbourne Polytechnic students. He also likes to create real life situations, allowing the students to engage with industry experts, learning both conceptual and practical skills.
A photography teacher at Melbourne Polytechnic since 2001, Maurizio shares photographic knowledge spanning over 30 years of industry experience with his students. He creates conceptual and hands-on activities, including interprogram collaborations with other creative arts courses at Melbourne Polytechnic. Maurizio’s teaching philosophy is centred around passing on knowledge gained from experience. He finds it very rewarding when his ex-students become industry experts and return to Melbourne Polytechnic as guest speakers.
Maurizio holds a Diploma of Applied Photography from Melbourne Polytechnic, a Bachelor of Arts in Photomedia from Monash University and is currently undertaking a Master of Creative Industry through Melbourne Polytechnic. He has had work shown in various personal and group exhibitions across Australia and Europe.
