On Campus |
The course will be face-to-face, all classes will be held at a Melbourne Polytechnic campus, a training centre, or a partner institute. You will have the opportunity to work with other students and teachers in person. Moodle is the learning tool you will use to access your classes and resources. Assessments and other coursework will be submitted through Moodle too. |
Sam is studying to be a hairdresser. She prefers to practice her skills on real clients in a salon setting She finds that in-class interactive activities and training are helpful with her way of studying. |
Virtual Classroom |
Virtual classrooms are designed to give students the tools to learn remotely. This could be from your home or other quiet spaces. You will be given a timetable to attend a digital classroom, using video conferencing software like Zoom that allows you to connect with teachers and other students. Moodle is the learning tool you will use to access your class information and resources. Assessments and other coursework will be submitted through Moodle too. |
Gemma lives in regional Victoria; her course delivery means she can access her studies online without having to travel. She attends her classes using Zoom at a specified time. All coursework, notes, resources and assignments are located on Moodle for her to access. She finds breaking her day up by doing her coursework and readings at a local library helps with productivity. |
Self-paced Online Learning |
Study anytime, anywhere. This is the perfect option for students who want to study in their own time. The learning content will be provided to you from the beginning of your course and can be accessed at any point during the semester so you can fit your study around other commitments. You’ll get a timetable at the start of the semester for your scheduled course and assessment due dates. |
George is choosing this type of delivery/course as they're currently working full-time. They allocate time from 6pm – 8pm every weeknight to work on their coursework via Moodle using their own computer. George contacts their teachers through email to ask questions relating to the readings and for support with assessments. |
On Campus / Virtual Classroom |
This learning method provides the best of both worlds. Depending on the course, you will receive a timetable that will cover both on-campus and virtual classrooms. A portion of this course will be in person and classes will be held at a Melbourne Polytechnic campus, a training centre or a partner institute. When the class is being held online or “virtually” you will be given a Zoom link to join the session. Moodle is the learning tool you will use to access your class information and resources. Assessments and other coursework will be submitted through Moodle too. |
John studies Information Technology, he has two classes on campus and two classes on Zoom on weeknights. This allows John to work three days a week and study at night. |
On Campus / Self-paced Online Learning |
A portion of this course will be face-to-face, classes will be held at a Melbourne Polytechnic campus, a training centre, or a partner institute. Additional coursework will be provided to you in advance, this work can be accessed and completed via Moodle. |
Mohammed receives coursework from their teacher via Moodle every week. They attend a face-to-face class at Fairfield campus every Tuesday for in-class activities and to discuss the coursework. |

They submit their assignments through Melbourne Polytechnic’s digital platforms. Amir goes to the Fairfield campus library on Thursday morning to go through their course reading and get help from Learning Support Services. |

Dean is a Hospitality student; they attend a practical class at Melbourne Polytechnic Preston campus on a Tuesday afternoon each week. Dean completes the readings and coursework via Moodle that is set by their teacher, which is then discussed in a virtual classroom each Thursday evening at 7pm. Dean schedules their self-paced online coursework around their work commitments. |
