Scholarship Overview

We are currently accepting applications for 2025. The next scholarship application panel will convene after January 13, 2025, and successful applicants will be notified following this date.

Please proceed with your enrolment as scheduled. We encourage students not to delay their enrolment while waiting for their scholarship application outcome. Successful scholarship recipients will be eligible for reimbursement.

The Hardship & Support Grants for Hume Residents Program provides financial assistance to students living in the Hume City Council who are facing financial challenges. These grants are designed to help students stay on track with their studies, meet essential educational expenses, and overcome immediate financial hardships. By easing financial pressures, the program aims to support students in completing
their courses successfully and achieving positive vocational and career outcomes.

Audience

This scholarship is available to Melbourne Polytechnic Students residing in the Hume City Council region.  

Scholarship Format / Structure

The program provides financial grants ranging from $250 to $2,000, based on the applicant’s level of hardship and financial need. The grants may cover:

  • Tuition and Course-Related Fees: Including tuition, materials and amenities fees for enrolments and re-enrolments in Term/ Semester 1, 2025.
  • 2025 Hardship Assistance: Rent, transport, food, unexpected medical expenses, or technology repairs (e.g., laptops).

Format:

  • Tuition, material and amenities fee-based grants will be paid directly towards the enrolment & re-enrolment process.
  • Hardship Assistance outside of tuition, materials and fees will be paid as a direct EFT payment to applicant.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on the following:

  • Demonstrated Financial Hardship: Applicants must outline their financial situation, clearly identifying the challenges they are facing.
  • Documented Financial Assistance Needs: Applicants must specify the type of financial support they require (e.g., tuition fees, transport, rent, or other essential expenses) and provide any relevant supporting documentation.
  • Outcome of Assistance: Applicants must describe how the financial support will help them continue their studies, complete their course, and achieve positive vocational or career outcomes.
