Turn your passion for animals into a fulfilling career

If you’re interested in working with man’s best friend, Melbourne Polytechnic’s Animal Studies qualifications will set you on the path to a career filled with furred, feathers, and finned friends.

Graduates from Melbourne Polytechnic’s Animal Studies courses may find work in pet grooming, an animal shelter, a kennel or cattery, a pet shop, in community animal care, on a farm, or as a veterinary nurse. Animal study and care is rewarding for both you and our furry friends. Our Animal Studies courses deliver a range of skills across general animal care, native wildlife care, breeding procedures, companion animal behaviour, and veterinary clinic duties.

Melbourne Polytechnic has strong connections to the animal care industry. Combined with our purpose-built animal care facilities, you will have extensive opportunities for practical application of handling and animal husbandry skills through projects and classes on campus and with industry partners. These opportunities mean that our Animal Studies students graduate job-ready with practical experience.
