Australia’s construction industry is booming and employment for construction managers is expected to grow by 13% in the next five years. Melbourne Polytechnic’s Certificate IV in Building and Construction CPC40120 provides a great pathway into this exciting industry. This qualification is recognised by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), and will teach you the skills that can put you on the fast track for success in the construction industry.
With our hands-on qualification you will gain access to industry guest speakers, field projects and site visits, so you are career-ready as soon as you graduate. You’ll train with qualified and experienced teachers, using cutting edge technologies and techniques used on today’s modern building sites. Melbourne Polytechnic students learn in Victoria’s most technologically advanced building and construction training facilities, taught by site-experienced teachers who know what the construction industry is looking for. You will also learn all of the key skills and knowledge in the building management trade required for assessment by the VBA so you can easily apply for registration as a Domestic Builder.
When you graduate you can combine your skills with industry experience and choose from a rich variety of career paths. You may choose to become a registered builder, a building and construction project supervisor, project manager, construction coordinator or site manager. Construction is an industry that rewards people with varied skills. If you combine this qualification with good communication, planning and relationship-building skills, you may find yourself in high demand. If you’re hard-working, resilient and adaptable, you could grow a successful and rewarding career full of variety and exciting challenges.

After completion of this course, you may pathway in to the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) CPC50220. Alternatively, you can pursue further studies in Engineering Construction Management.

After initial deposit, international students are able to pay tuition fees in installments, four times per year.

The State Government’s Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative covers the cost of tuition (excluding Amenities Fees and Materials Fees) for students who are eligible for government subsidised training and enrol into one of the Priority listed course.
Free TAFE is available to eligible students for one course enrolment in a lifetime.

Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative covers the cost of tuition fees for students who are eligible. Materials and amenities may still apply.
The Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative will pay your tuition fees for only one course. Once you have commenced in a tuition-free priority course, you are not eligible for further tuition-free places again, even if you do not finish your first tuition-free priority course.
